A Roll is the principal footage which tells your story. Meaning the primary images and the audio.

B Roll are the images which complement the A, give it flow,  to fill gaps, bring in an emotion, an idea, which are not always part of the main central theme.

The downloadable  Production  Guide gives more information on A & B Roll.

Make a film schedule. This way you know where to go, when to go, and you can prepare the sort of footage you want to get.

Even in lockdown we can continue to work.

Experiment and have fun

Consider different elements you will or could use:
  • Will you use voiceover?
  • Sit down interviews?
  • Interviews on the go?
  • Found footage?
  • Drone?
  • Music?
  • Photographs - stills?
  • Animation?
  • Graphics?
