DIY Filmmaking and Personal Storytelling.
Hi, I’m Jeanne, a documentary filmmaker, tutor, and writer. I help people tell their own stories using micro-budget tools, especially smartphones. Whether you’re just starting out, exploring digital storytelling, or looking for fresh ways to share your voice or brand,
I’m here to support you. I believe digital storytelling should be simple, accessible, and real.
You don’t need fancy equipment, only a willingness to learn and a story that matters to you.

Do you want more people to find out about what you do (or your brand!)?

Join us for a film evening presented by The Friends of Woodbury Park Cemetery, featuring Robert Hassell as he recalls growing up beside Woodbury Park Cemetery — his childhood spent playing in the Triangle, which lies between the cemetery and the houses on Upper Grosvenor Road.
Robert also shares memories of his father’s life as a stonemason and his own later work with Burslem’s Monuments, where he sculpted Jacob Bell’s Epitaph. He will speak about his collaboration with me in creating this digital story — offering an inspiring insight for anyone interested in learning how to make a digital story of their own. If this interests you, please join us at St John's Church, and for digital storytelling please see my workshops All are welcome — come and share in this local story. A small donation is appreciated but not mandatory. |

October:
I’m delighted to share that my short film Le Temps des Vendangeurs has just been officially selected for a festival, and Philadelphia Carmen has received an Honourable Mention at the Folkstone Film Festival.
Both films have been labours of love, created from a commitment to storytelling that honours the human spirit.
September:
My latest documentary screened at Trinity Theatre Tunbridge Wells for Heritage Open Day and to be screening in
various venues over the next few months.
Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me along the way.

Our Film and Expo - showcase TRINITY THEATRE September 8 - 21 - 2025
Heritage Open Days is England’s largest annual festival of history and culture, offering a unique opportunity for the public to explore buildings, places, and spaces not normally open or accessible. It takes place every September, with thousands of events happening across the country and admission is always free.
We’re thrilled to be taking part in this year’s Heritage Open Days!
To celebrate, we’ll be hosting a special Expo, film screening, and guided walk
centred around the rich and often hidden history of Woodbury Park Cemetery. Please see the poster below.
Curated by Jeanne Pope and Emma Vidler for The Friends of Woodbury Park Cemetery, in collaboration with Trinity Theatre, Tunbridge Wells, this event will explore the stories, lives, and legacies connected to the unique and historic Woodbury Park Cemetery. Through film, archive displays, and storytelling, we will reflect on the personal and collective histories rooted in this sacred Victorian burial ground.
We’re very excited to share this with you and to honour the power of place, memory, and community.

Thank you to the Beijing Documentary Awards for this nomination! I’m incredibly proud and excited. Now, it’s time to add English subtitles and rework the trailer for the non-Chinese festival circuit.
🎬 This is shaping up to be an exciting creative year with two documentaries lined up and a consultancy with Li Chung on her upcoming film - "She Takes Off Her Skin." Looking forward to the journey ahead!

Artistic Statement: Le Temps Des Vendangeurs - Click Image
From the Mayoress of Tuchan:
Bravo! Et pour finir merci à Jeanne de donner la recette du film aux écoles de Tuchan" "Tonight you will see The Time of the Grapepickers by Jeanne Pope. Jeanne spent three months filming the harvest in Tuchan. She followed the harvest, the dramas, the rugby, the craftsmen, the village elders who keep the memory alive, the new arrivals, the travellers, and the life of a village in difficulty in the face of Covid. Congratulations to Jeanne Pope for this film, which has been recognised both in the "capital" and internationally. Thank you to her for raising the profile of our village to this level. And special congratulations to the actors. These are people from Tuchan whom we meet every day and who have made this adventure possible. It's not easy being an subject. Well done! And finally, thank you to Jeanne for donating the proceeds from the film to the schools in Tuchan". |
Feeling very proud to end the year on such a creative and happy note. Thank you to all my friends in Tuchan who came to support us when the film screened in December. It was the pinnacle for me. I was charmed by the support and love bestowed. TUCHAN - MERCI A TOI |

Do freelancers need a PLI?
No matter what stage you are at, you always must check and double check your facts. Don't find yourself in a difficult situation.
Here's my story for you. I want to film two streets in my town. Now, I know I need to ask for a release from the Kent County Council, and you should too, wherever you want to film publically you will need to ask your council if the space belongs to them, and usually a release is required. But what I did not think of was the need for PLI, personal liability insurance, which will cover me in case I cause an accident or hurt someone in a public space, or in their own space.
As a self-employed worker you should take out public liability insurance to cover you against the cost of any damages caused by your work activities
