Welcome to Scatterflix documentaries
a site for indie, DIY documentary filmmaking workshops
hello and welcome. My name is Jeanne Pope. I'm a documentary filmmaker, teacher, storyteller and natural therapist. I blend my passions together and offer my experience into the fascinating journey of making your own documentary. This site is dedicated to the emerging filmmaker and lover of documentary creation.
I am drawn to unusual off centered marginality. To life's under currents where secrets lie, waiting to be told. I am not a political raconteur, I am a storyteller and see the beauty and poetry even in the most tragic and dark. I am attracted to telling tales where we can find some magic and hope. The issues that touch me are social alienation, abandonment, adoption, death, immigration, preserving memories, and falling in love.Through exploration of these topics I find myself through others, and with each new documentary a healing occurs.
FREE Online Documentary Film Workshops
#16 Filming with your cell phone
I love teaching film production and sharing what I have experienced. With time in lockdown I decided to create these blog-workshops to inspire and help you to make low-budget, mixed-media, hybrid, documentary films, no matter what the length.
You will find handy tips, techniques and ideas. Links to free online documentary streaming, free software and other titbits which I constantly update here, on the workshop page and news bites.
Workshops will take you through the fundamentals of documentary production from A-Z; a step-by-step guide to bring you out the other side. With your film, ready to show.
I collaborate with a small group. We come from different walks of life, different cultures, language, passions, angles and ways of creating. But we share and brainstorm together. Without each other life is sort of lonely out there. We all need a way to share our artwork. If you have something to share, please do. Making documentaries is teamwork; through exchange we learn and we grow.
Podcast on Camera equipment from INDIE FILM HUSTLE
Where different elements are mixed together to construct a narrative. These can be film archives, photos, news articles, music, animation, reconstruction, collage, Super 8, Drone, HD, DV, 16mm, 35 mm. I find mixed-media exciting. It is recreating the old for the new. And making out of new something extraordinary. It is a real passion of mine.
