My name is Jeanne Pope, I am British-French-Canadian and a bit of a nomad. I am a passionate documentary filmmaker and educator currently working remotely for the Qingdao Film Academy, Qingdao, China where I taught before the pandemic from 2015-2020. I am based in the UK, and sometimes France where I have my home. During the 2020 lockdown, inspired by the success of our online Chinese classes, and to answer people's question on How do I begin to make my first documentary?, I created my free workshops which you can find here. I love what I do and I love to share my knowledge. This is a small and intimate DIY community where we work together, tell our stories and create a harmonious and friendly platform where we exchange and learn. We are happy to have you join us on this happy and exciting documentary journey. |
Wang Ying is Chinese-Canadian from Nanjing, the old Capital of China. We have collaborated on documentaries since 2006 when we met in Montreal. He currently works as a professor of documentary film production in Qingdao. We are dear friends. Ying's last film Shang Xin Fang - Moving to New House - has won various prizes in international film festivals in 2021. I was honoured to have worked with him on this wonderful documentary. We currently have three films in pre-production: Chinese, Canadian and an English production. We work with students in China, host online workshops and keep creating. It is not always easy working from a distance - China-UK - but the obstacles give us more motivation to continue. Check out our productions, give us a shout, and visit our YouTube channels. To edit, click on the text to start adding your own words. |
