The 16mm film featured above is “Hands,” my first film at Concordia Film School, starring the incredible French Canadian actress Pascale Montpetit. Inspired by Gilles Groulx’s film Golden Gloves. I am forever grateful to Concordia Film School in Montreal and my inspiring mentors, Mary Ellen Davies and Marielle Nitoslawska, for igniting my passion for documentary filmmaking.

 🎬 This is shaping up to be an exciting creative year with two documentaries   lined up and a consultancy with Li Chung on her upcoming film - "She Takes Off  Her Skin."  Looking forward to the journey ahead!

Artistic Statement: Le Temps Des Vendangeurs - Click Image

"Ce soir vous allez voir  Le Temps des Vendangeurs de Jeanne Pope. Prix du meilleur scénario en Bolivie - Finaliste du festival Paris Cinéma du Monde - Diffusé en Serbie en août 2023 et en Grande Bretagne. Ce documentaire, nous dit la réalisatrice ,est l'histoire d'un village pendant les vendanges et le Covid, où la vie est vécue sur le fil. Pour la première fois depuis vingt ans, Jeanne a passé les vendanges à Tuchan, où elle a tourné pendant trois mois. Elle a suivi les vendanges, les drames, le rugby, les artisans, les vieux du village qui gardent la mémoire , les nouveaux arrivants, les voyageurs, et la vie d'un village en difficulté face au Covid. Félicitations à Jeanne Pope pour ce film, reconnu à la "capitale" et à l'international. Merci à elle d'avoir porté l'image de notre village à ce niveau. Et félicitations particulières aux acteurs. Des tuchanais que l'on côtoie tous les jours , qui ont permis cette aventure. Ce n'est pas simple d'être un acteur. Bravo! Et pour finir merci à Jeanne de donner la recette du film aux écoles de Tuchan"

"Tonight you will see The Time of the Grapepickers by Jeanne Pope. Jeanne spent three months filming the harvest in Tuchan. She followed the harvest, the dramas, the rugby, the craftsmen, the village elders who keep the memory alive, the new arrivals, the travellers, and the life of a village in difficulty in the face of Covid. Congratulations to Jeanne Pope for this film, which has been recognised both in the "capital" and internationally. Thank you to her for raising the profile of our village to this level. And special congratulations to the actors. These are people from Tuchan whom we meet every day and who have made this adventure possible. It's not easy being an subject. Well done! And finally, thank you to Jeanne for donating the proceeds from the film to the schools in Tuchan".

​Feeling very proud to end the year on such a creative and happy note. Thank you to all my friends in Tuchan who came to support us when the film screened in December. It was the pinnacle for me. I was charmed by the support and love bestowed.

Do freelancers need a PLI?

No matter what stage you are at, you always must check and double check your facts. Don't find yourself in a difficult situation.

Here's my story for you. I want to film two streets in my town. Now, I know I need to ask for a release from the Kent County Council, and you should too, wherever you want to film publically you will need to ask your council if the space belongs to them, and usually a release is required. But what I did not think of was the need for PLI, personal liability insurance, which will cover me in case I cause an accident or hurt someone in a public space, or in their own space. 

As a self-employed worker you should take out public liability insurance to cover you against the cost of any damages caused by your work activities
