James Galwey fled the English educational establishment in the early 1980s to co-found an experimental theatre group outside London, England. Not staying long, his restless feet took him around Europe, Australia (to see his old friend Jeanne Pope), the States and finally to Canada and Montreal in 1986. He fell into the theatre scene and collaborated on a few plays before deciding to concentrate on his first love of cinema. He has been writing scripts ever since ( two of them with Jeanne) and three of them have been produced. To fund his hobby, he has worked as a freelance writer, copywriter, translator, documentary researcher and dialogue coach. The last few years have seen him plunge into personal documentaries and socially aware causes. His latest project is Chez Lise, a documentary on a boarding house catering to people with severe mental health issues, co-directing it with his long-time collaborator Jeanne Pope.
